Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Littleton is in Massachusetts, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Littleton is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Massachusetts's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Awesome bonsai nursery & gallery. Beautiful selection and really well priced. The staff was super helpful and welcoming. A great place for bonsai beginners and enthusiasts alike! We left with a gorgeous juniper and a new pot on sale!! Definitely coming back for more plants. They also had a bonsai hospital and bonsai hotel.

What a fantastic experience at Bonsai West. Weโre incredibly lucky to have one of the largest bonsai nurseries in the country right here in Massachusetts. The workshop itself was outstanding, but what really set the experience apart was the people. Michael, the owner, and Steven, our instructor, were intentional, welcoming, and genuinely invested in every participantโs success. You could immediately tell that they werenโt just teaching techniques, they were sharing a passion and an art form that they truly love. Steven was an exceptional instructor, taking the time to answer questions, explain the โwhyโ behind each step, and ensure everyone felt comfortable throughout the process. Michaelโs enthusiasm and commitment to creating a world-class learning environment were evident in every aspect of the experience. We left with our own bonsai trees, a deeper appreciation for the art of bonsai, and a strong desire to come back for another workshop. Whether youโre a beginner or a longtime enthusiast, Bonsai West is a special place and well worth a visit.

It was our first time and we were just planning to take a look and not buy anything. But there were so many beautiful trees for reasonable prices from $3000 fully established trees to $20 pre-bonsai, it was very hard to leave without one. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and helped us pick out a beautiful $350 Japanese maple. They also showed me and my son exactly how to care for it and offered us to come back with the tree for pruning lessons, Will definitely be coming back for lessons and trees.

Whether you are looking to purchase young or old bonsai, or pre-bonsai material, or just walk quietly and enjoy the multitude of trees, this is an amazing place to visit. Immerse yourself in many hundreds of bonsai trees of all types. I shop here regularly and sometimes just pass through to see the trees, get ideas and inspiration, and enjoy the quiet gardens and greenhouses. They also sell some tools and supplies as well as traditional bonsai pots. They offer some programs and classes, and are open all year. Check their website for hours. Donโt be shocked by the price tag on the very mature trees, you can find small pre-bonsai to start your journey for under $20!
